Rosenbauer reveals North America’s First Fully Electric Fire Truck!

The Rosenbauer RTX is North America’s first fully electric apparatus with the highest levels of safety, driving maneuverability, innovative safety features, and is fully network connected. These features, among many more, make the RTX the most versatile fire apparatus on the market. Safety, and environmental benefits of the Rosenbauer RTX include:

  • Fully electric drivetrain – The RTX’s fully electric 132kW Volvo Penta drivetrain is powerful, reliable, fossil fuel and noise emissions-free. Frequent, standard operations are accomplished solely on electricity, even when used frequently in higher call volume municipalities. Less common, longer emergency situations may utilize the built-in range extender to extend the electrical driving range and pump operations. The pump, Whelen lighting, and all other auxiliary equipment are powered directly by the batteries.
  • Improved safety, ergonomics and driving performance: The RTX is driveshaft-free which allows a lower center of gravity and evens out axle loads to improve cornering stability and reduce rollover risk. The water tank and equipment compartment placements are lower vs. traditional trucks. The adjustable air suspension allows a lower on scene vehicle height for more convenient truck entry and reduces lifting strain.
  • Increased functionality and maneuverability – The RTX is a multipurpose vehicle; a pumper first and foremost, a connected mobile command unit, and a vehicle for assistance in wildland fires. This is accomplished via a crew cabin concept with rotating front seats, rear axle steering to improve turning radius, full pump and roll capabilities, and suspension adjustable to full off road and wading ride height. The RTX offers integrated high-performance LED strips, with powerful and shadowless luminosity to increase scene visibility.
